Afterglow

This piece, inspired by Helen Lowrie Marshall’s bereavement poem Afterglow, reflects my personal journey through grief, particularly the loss of my father. The poem, featured on his funeral card, has been a source of comfort throughout my life. Using formal design principles like the rule of thirds and intentional color contrasts, I filmed and edited clips that juxtapose vibrant indoor scenes with darker outdoor ones. The spoken audio, paired with an ambient track I composed, conveys my response to grief and the universal experience of loss. Through this work, I aim to resonate with viewers and encourage reflection on healing and self-reconnection.
