Gaps in the Smile

I explore the intersection of socioeconomic status and access to basic rights through a series of small sculptures inspired by plaster dental molds. Using plaster, acrylic paint, and heavy gel gloss, each piece portrays a dental mold at various stages of decay, symbolizing how access to oral healthcare is often determined by socioeconomic factors. Teeth, crucial yet often overlooked in overall health, become metaphors for the toll of neglect in marginalized communities. This series invites audiences to consider the impact of limited dental care access and to advocate for equitable healthcare for all.
